For this piece, I interviewed somebody who was working in a family business, as well as business school representatives. Even though this is not a typical news story – I approached it with a journalistic lens. That is, I tried to write an engaging narrative based on real peoples’ voices and a sense of objectivity.
However, beyond just turning people on to new info, this piece has other, substantial value. It serves as an outreach mechanism for the web site, whose business model is based on revenue created through the sales of banner ads and other marketing items. A well-writeen article like this highlights their products, allowing potential customers to find them and learn more about them. And while I write, I think about SEO best practices, without getting overboard – so the article will show up frequently in search engines.
